Brighten up the coldest months with the Winter Flowering Clematis Collection—a trio of stunning, evergreen climbers that bring colour and fragrance to your garden from winter through early spring. Featuring bell-shaped, creamy blooms speckled with reddish-brown spots, a delightful winter surprise of white flowers, and fragrant nodding blossoms, this collection offers a truly unique winter display.

Perfect for adding interest to doorways, fences, or containers, these hardy climbers will thrive in sheltered spots and reward you with long-lasting beauty during the darker months.

This climbers in this collection are semi-evergreen, and (unlike most plants) they're dormant in summer. Therefore they can lose some or all of their leaves in the warmer months, but then fresh new foliage appears again in autumn.

How to care for Winter flowering clematis collection:

To avoid dry conditions, and to ensure good soil contact around the rootball, we advise planting climbers at least 30cm (12in), and preferably 45-60cm (18-24in) away from the base of a wall or fence. An even larger distance should be maintained when planting climbers beside an existing tree or shrub.

Clematis need their roots to be kept cool and moist, so plant the base of these climbers in light shade or provide shading with other plants or a dressing of pebbles.

No routine pruning is necessary. If the spread of the plant needs to be restricted prune immediately after flowering, cutting back overlong shoots to healthy buds.

Apply a slow-release balanced fertiliser and a mulch of well-rotted garden compost around the base of the plant in early spring.

Looking at their best in autumn, winter and spring, these clematis can have a natural dormant period in summer where the leaves sometimes turn brown.
