delphinium

Product Image
The sturdy flowerspikes of Delphinium 'Highlander Sweet Sensation' rarely need staking, even in poor weather, which makes this double-flowered cultivar low maintenance and well-suited for a large container. In early summer, the rich violet coloured flowers put on a wonderful display, mixing particularly well with most shades of pink, silver and richer purples. Extremely tolerant of cold weather, it can cope with temperatures as low as -20°C (68°F).

How to care for Delphinium Highlander Sweet Sensation (PBR) (Highlander Series):

For best results, plant in an open spot with fertile, freely-draining soil and protect the young foliage against slug and snail damage.

During the growing season, apply a seaweed or balanced liquid fertiliser every 2-3 weeks. While wearing gloves, stake the emerging flower spike with a stout bamboo cane and tie it in as it grows.

Cutting back the faded flower stems to a flowering side shoot will help encourage a second flush of flowers.
