Producing a profusion of lavender-blue daisy flowers with yellow centres, this mildew-resistant aster starts flowering in late summer. Eurybia × herveyi is a particularly useful plant, which will usually bloom well in dry and shady corners.
How to care for Eurybia × herveyi:
Grow in part shade or dappled sunlight for best results. This woodland-type aster prefers well-drained soil that doesn’t need to be overly rich, but benefits from added leaf mould or compost in poor soils. Space around 45cm (18in) apart to allow for airflow. It’s naturally bushy and typically doesn't need support or pinching.
Remove spent flowers to encourage tidiness and a longer display. Leave top growth over winter for habitat value and cut back in early spring. A light mulch of compost or leaf mould in spring will help retain moisture.
