Iris ensata 'Variegata'
Japanese water iris
This pond plant dies right back in autumn, then fresh new growth appears again in spring.

- Depth of water: 0-15cm (0-6in)
- Rate of growth: average to fast-growing

The combination of variegated foliage and rich purple flowers in summer, makes this a handsome addition to the edges of a pond. Plant it straight into the ground and it will spread to form a generous swathe, or pot it up if you want a more compact clump. - Garden care: Plant out in reliably moist soil, or pot up into a pond basket and place at the margins of a pond. Cut back flowers and foliage as they fade.
- Humans/Pets: Harmful if eaten
