Lewisia cotyledon

lewisia

Product Image
Forming a low rosette of fleshy green leaves, which in late spring and early summer, is topped with branching stems that carry pink, apricot or rich gold flowers. Occasionally the blooms may also be bicoloured, or even a blend of colours, which makes them a very pretty addition to the alpine bed or rockery. They will also look great in pots.

How to care for Lewisia cotyledon:

Plant in freely draining, gritty or sandy soil in a sunny or partially shaded position. Water moderately during the active growing season, taking care not to overwater. Avoid waterlogging in winter, as excess moisture can cause crown or root rot.

Remove dead or faded flowers regularly to encourage further blooms and maintain a tidy appearance. Divide congested clumps every few years in early spring or after flowering to promote healthy growth and flowering. Apply a light mulch of the crown dry.
