Miscanthus 'Ferner Osten' forms an arching clump of slender green folige, which turns copper-red in autumn before dying back for winter. The fireworks however start even earlier in the season, when the plume-like flower panicles emerge in summer. These are initially a rich shade of red, but they turn pinkish and then silvery as they mature over the season. It's a showy grass, that can be used as a stand-alone specimen, but it will also add bit of late drama to the border.
