Nymphoides peltata

floating heart

Product Image
Floating heart-shaped, somewhat mottled foliage quickly spreads to form a carpet from which upright stems emerge in summer, each topped with small fringed yellow flowers. Being such a fast grower, Nymphoides peltata is useful for adding interest to a newly established pond while slower plants are still becoming established.

How to care for Nymphoides peltata:

Nymphoides peltata thrives in still or slow-moving water and should be kept away from pumps or fountains. Plant in the supplied pond basket with aquatic compost and submerge so roots are underwater.

Trim back if it becomes too vigorous, and in summer, separate any plantlets that develop on runners to encourage new growth and prevent overcrowding. Keep the water level fairly constant and remove dead leaves to maintain healthy plants.
