With its gently waving stems crowned with fluffy, tail-like flowers that emerge in summer, Pennisetum ‘Tiny Tails’ creates a magical, reddish-silver, semi-translucent haze above mixed borders.

This beautiful ornamental grass performs spectacularly in sunny, free-draining positions, particularly thriving in mild or coastal gardens where it partners beautifully with both vibrant perennials like Achillea, and fellow grasses like Stipa. It also makes an interesting partner to an autumnal cut flower arrangement.

The captivating display continues well into autumn, after which this resilient performer can be cut back, ready to emerge again with fresh vigour the following spring, provided it receives protection from severe or prolonged wintry conditions.

Please note that the pot in the photograph is not supplied with the plant (which is sent out in a simple nursery alternative), but we have a wide and wonderful range on our website to choose from.

How to care for Pennisetum Tiny Tails (PBR):

When planting add a scoop of well-rotted organic matter and perhaps some horticultural grit to improve drainage.

In autumn, add a generous layer of mulch to provide an insulating layer around the roots and leave the top growth for winter protection and interest.

Cut back the previous year's growth each spring to ground level.
