
Reddish-brown flower-spikes on stiff stems in August and September held above arching clumps of glossy, bright green leaves. Cyperus longus is a stately marginal is suitable for growing in still, shallow water 15-30cm (6-12") deep or in boggy, moist soil in a sunny or partially shady border and is perfect for adding vertical interest, particularly in a large contemporary garden.
How to care for Cyperus longus:
Plant out in reliably moist or boggy soil, or pot up into a pond basket and place at the margins of a pond in shallow water no deeper than 30cm (12"). A low maintenance plant, wearing gloves, comb through and remove dead leaves and and spent flowers as necessary. Divide congested clumps in early spring every few years.
