Smaller than average potatoes with a subtle flavour, potato 'Maris Peer' are ideal for boiling, steaming or roasting whole. They have a light skin, creamy flesh, and a good overall uniformity, while also showing a good resistance to powdery scab and skin spot.
Spring-planted potatoes will be ready to harvest from early to midsummer, while those planted in summer can be harvested from late autumn to Christmas.

How to care for potato Maris Peer:
For summer-planted seed potatoes: Skip the chitting process and plant directly into well-prepared trenches, spacing them about 30cm (12in) apart. Alternatively, use a potato grow-bag with at least 20cm (8i) of compost beneath the potatoes. Add a general-purpose fertiliser at the bottom of the trench or grow-bag, then cover the potatoes with a 20cm layer of soil or compost. Ensure they are well-watered.
As the plants reach around 20cm (8in) in height, mound up the soil around the base, covering the lower two-thirds of the plant. Adequate watering enhances crop yield and prevents potato scab. Protect the crop from frost, and expect harvesting in approximately 12 weeks.
