A new and compact cinquefoil, that will make a great addition to a sunny patio, rock garden or front of border position. It flowers over an incredibly long time, and the rich pink flowers are really eyecatching. Tough and undemanding, Potentilla fruticosa Bellissima will become tolerant of drought once established, and it rarely succumbs to pests or diseases.
How to care for Potentilla fruticosa Bellissima ('Hachliss') (PBR):
Plant woody shrub cinquefoil in full sun and well-drained soil, as they flower most freely in bright conditions and dislike sitting in wet ground. Water regularly during their first year to help them establish, then only during extended dry spells once mature. In spring, apply a 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted compost or manure to keep the soil in good condition and conserve moisture.
After flowering, trim the plant lightly, removing weak or spindly shoots and cutting a few of the oldest stems back to the base to keep a neat shape and encourage fresh growth.
