Primula 'Bonneli Appleblossom'
primrose
This perennial is semi-evergreen so it can lose some of its leaves in winter. In colder regions or more exposed gardens, it may lose them all, but then fresh new growth appears again in spring.
- Position: Full sun or partial shade
- Soil: Moderately fertile, moist, well-drained soil
- Rate of growth: Fast
- Flowering period: January to March
- Hardiness: Fully hardy
Tightly held clusters of soft pink flowers, with a vibrant pink inner flush surrounding a bright yellow centre, 'Bonneli Appleblossom' is a gleeful early season performer. A semi-evergreen perennial with leaves arranged in a basal rosette, that are roughly textured and bright green. Perfect for pots, containers and border edges.
Plant out in a partially shaded and sheltered position, adding plenty of leaf mould and compost to the planting hole and backfill. Water well until established. Divide large clumps in late spring or early summer after the plant has flowered, preferably during a wet spell.
