Pulsatilla vulgaris 'Alba'

pasque flower

Product Image
A lovely choice for adding early-season interest, this compact perennial produces silky, bell-shaped white flowers above a neat mound of finely divided foliage. The nodding blooms have bright golden-yellow centres and emerge from softly hairy buds, creating a pleasing contrast in spring.

As the flowers fade, they are followed by distinctive silky, feathery seed heads that catch the light and extend the display into summer. Pulsatilla vulgaris 'Alba' is particularly well suited to sunny rockeries, gravel gardens and the front of borders, and also works well in containers. Choose its permanent position carefully, as it dislikes root disturbance once established.

How to care for Pulsatilla vulgaris Alba:

Plant in a sunny spot with sharply drained soil, setting it in firmly and watering once to help it settle. Avoid disturbing the roots when weeding or reworking the border, as they dislike being moved, and add a light mulch of gravel or coarse grit to keep the crown dry.

After flowering, let the foliage die back naturally and remove old growth in late winter to make room for fresh shoots.
