This delicate water buttercup is a perfect marginal plant for still or slow-moving water. Slender red-tinted green stems are useful for softening the water's edge and in early summer the plant produces a profusion of small, yellow, buttercup-like flowers. Less invasive than greater spearwort, Ranunculus flammula is ideal for small ponds.
How to care for Ranunculus flammula:
Grow in boggy soil, still or slow moving water up to 15-22cm (6-9”) deep. Cut back after flowering. Lift and divide large clumps in early spring before the plant has flowered.
