This redcurrant is one of the first to ripen in early July, so it's a great choice if you want to start harvesting berries a little sooner than average. The fruits have an excellent flavour and are bright and juicy, so are rated very highly by enthusiasts and growers alike - and large bushes will usually produce a heavy crop of fruits each year.

How to care for redcurrant Jonkheer van Tets:

Prepare the ground well before planting. Remove all weeds and dig in plenty of well-rotted manure into the area. Space at 1.5m intervals and once planted, apply a mulch of well-rotted manure every spring, as well as a nitrogen and potassium fertiliser. Make sure the plant is watered in dry weather and net the bushes to protect the currants from birds. In the first year, prune back to one bud above soil level in winter. After that only prune out weak branches.
