arum lily

Product Image
Renowned for its striking appearance, 'Marshmallow' stands out as a captivating rhizomatous perennial for reliably moist areas, particularly in mild regions where it remains evergreen, forming a cluster of glossy, arrow-shaped leaves reaching up to 45cm (18in) in length. Transitioning from late spring to midsummer, this cultivar boasts a succession of exotic-looking flowers, each up to 15cm (6in) long, adorned with pale pink spathes encircling a vibrant yellow spadix.

How to care for Zantedeschia aethiopica Marshmallow:

Plant in humus-rich, moist to poorly drained soil, basking in full sun for optimal growth. In regions that experience severe or prolonged cold, it's essential to protect the crown of plants above the waterline with a deep winter mulch to safeguard against frost damage. While this variety is typically hardy in areas with mild winters and can remain in the ground year-round, in colder regions, it's advisable to dig up the rhizomes before the first frost and store store them in a cool, dry place until spring. Alternatively, for those in colder spots, treating them as annuals by replanting new rhizomes each year is a viable option to ensure continuous blooms and healthy growth.
