The built-in copper belt also helps to deter slugs and snails. For best results, push or dig into the soil slightly so the copper belt is closer to ground level. This should prevent even the most determined of slugs from sliding in underneath!
In winter, placing the cloche over tender plants or spring bulbs will prevent snow from settling, making the ground less likely to freeze.
