Reminiscent of classic Victorian grow pots the tall, slim shape fits efficiently into a grow tray on the windowsill and allows the young plants’ root stucture to grow down unhindered. Great for getting tomatoes and sweet peas off to a flying start!
These are hand thrown in Turkey from local clay and will age to an attractive patina as the salts leach to the surface.
Please note: white specks in the terracotta are lime granules, which occur naturally in raw Turkish clay. Occasionally when pots are fired the clay around them can split out a little, but this won’t compromise the pot’s strength. Lime helps to bind the clay and ultimately makes for a stronger pot. As the pots are hand thrown, the measurements are approximate.
Why choose terracotta?
Terracotta pots are excellent for plants because their porous, natural clay "breathes", allowing air and moisture to pass through the walls. This keeps soil from staying too wet and improves airflow around the roots, reducing the risk of root rot. They’re also naturally insulating which helps to protect roots from sudden temperature changes.
