Plant Healthy

In 2023, we became the first online gardening brand with Plant Healthy certification, a DEFRA-recognised mark for top plant health and biosecurity. Annual audits mean you can trust every plant from us is expertly cared for. Here’s some explainer videos on why it’s so important.

The only online gardening brand to be Plant Healthy

In 2023 we became the first online gardening brand to achieve Plant Healthy. This DEFRA-backed accreditation is given to growers who have been rigorously assessed and shown to maintain the highest standards of plant health and biosecurity. Achieving Plant Healthy means that our customers can rest assured that we’ve done everything we can to keep their plants pest and disease free. We are audited every year to ensure we still meet these standards and last year we passed once again and are committed to maintain this mark of quality.

100% self sufficient for our water needs

We have a large reservoir on the nursery which can hold up to 7 million litres of rain water and ensures that we are self-sufficient for our nursery’s watering needs. This means all of our plants which are out on the nursery are watered with recycled rain water. Once we have finished watering, the pipes collect this water again so that we are able to recycle 80% of water used for watering.

Recycling 80 tonnes of green waste

We often have a lot of plant waste material on the nursery due to our team cutting back or potting plants on. In 2021 we built three industrial sized composting bays to collect our green waste and turn this into compost. Every year this is rotated, sieved and eventually turned into compost. In 2024 we used this compost for our Chelsea Show Garden designed by Tom Stuart-Smith and for various landscaping projects and topping up plants before we send them out for delivery.
