Buddleja Little Ruby ('BotEx 006') (PBR) (Butterfly Candy Series)
butterfly bush (syn. buddleia)
This shrub is deciduous so it will lose all its leaves in autumn, then fresh new foliage appears again each spring.
- Position: full sun
- Soil: fertile, well-drained soil
- Rate of growth: fast-growing
- Flowering period: July to September
- Hardiness: fully hardy
This reliably compact buddleja is ideal for pots making 'Little Ruby' a great choice for balconies or terraces. From midsummer, the splaying stems are topped with a conical cluster that contains masses of small pinkish red flowers. Colourful as well as rich in nectar, they put on a great show, and you'll have the enjoyment of watching the butterflies come and go as they top up their energy levels. - Garden care: Prune back hard in March, removing all of the previous year's growth to three or four buds.
