Erica × darleyensis 'Ghost Hills'

winter heath heather

Product Image
An evergreen groundcovering plant, that has the added bonus of producing an abundance of pinkish purple flowers from late winter to mid-spring. These not only look good, but will also provide a vital source of early nectar for bees and other pollinators.

Erica × darleyensis 'Ghost Hills' is a tough little plant, which once established will take drought in its stride.

How to care for Erica × darleyensis Ghost Hills:

Plant Erica in a sunny or partially shaded spot with well-drained soil, using a blend of ericaceous compost and well-rotted compost, and optionally add ericoid mycorrhizal fungi to the planting hole. Mulch lightly with ericaceous material to keep roots cool and moist.

During the growing season, water regularly and apply a half-strength balanced liquid fertiliser every four weeks. After flowering, trim the tips with shears or secateurs to remove dead flowers and encourage bushy growth, but avoid cutting into old wood as it may not resprout. Protect young plants from frost and only water in winter if the soil is dry.
