Helichrysum bracteatum 'Salmon Rose'

everlasting strawflower (syn. Xerochrysum bracteatum Salmon Rose)

Product Image
Soft, glowing tones bring a warm lift to summer planting, with layered, papery blooms that catch the light and hold their colour beautifully over time.

Helichrysum bracteatum 'Salmon Rose' produces upright stems topped with daisy-like flowers in a blend of peach, salmon and pale apricot shades, each petal crisp and slightly glossy, giving that classic ‘everlasting’ look. The blooms sit neatly above darker green foliage, creating a clean contrast that works well in borders or cutting beds.

It’s an easy grower for a sunny, well-drained spot, handling heat and dry conditions with ease while flowering steadily through the season. Perfect for cutting, the stems can be enjoyed fresh or hung upside down to dry, keeping their colour and structure for months.

How to care for Helichrysum bracteatum Salmon Rose:

Support the plants with twiggy branches in exposed gardens. To obtain the best dried flowers, cut just before fully open, hang upside down in small bunches in a dry, dark, well ventilated area where they will open out and dry naturally preserving their colour.

Sowing instructions:

Sow from March in trays or pots under glass at 55°F (13°C), but best sown in situ, in a well-prepared tilth, 1cm deep from May. Thin them out when they are large enough to handle allowing 20cm (8in) between each plant. An autumn sowing will produce slightly earlier flowers the following year.
