Many of the fleshy leaves of this little treasure form tubes along their length, and this, combined with the red flush at their tips, makes them really unusual. In time, this small, shrubby succulent may also produce white star-shaped flowers.
Crassula ovata 'Hobbit' is a great plant for a child, or for an inexperienced gardener.
Please note that the pot in the photograph is not supplied with the plant (which is sent out in a simple nursery alternative), but we have a wide and wonderful range on our website to choose from.
How to care for Crassula ovata Hobbit:
Plant in a bright spot with well-draining succulent or cactus compost. During the growing season, water thoroughly, allowing excess water to drain freely, and let the compost dry out between waterings. In winter, reduce watering to a minimum to prevent root rot, keeping the plant just lightly moist.
Crassula benefits from occasional feeding in spring and summer with a diluted succulent fertiliser. Remove any dead or shrivelled leaves to keep the plant tidy and encourage new growth. Light pruning of leggy stems can be done at any time to maintain shape.
