Introduced by Macdonald around 1942, this marvellously floriferous modern grandiflora sweet pea has large, fabulously fragrant blooms and long flowering stems - perfect for cut flowers, this annual climber will be ‘Putting on the Ritz’, dancing over your teepees and trellises for a wonderful summertime show!

Pots are supplied with 5-7 seedlings.

How to care for Lathyrus odoratus Top Hat:

Before planting out, incorporate lots of well-rotted organic matter in the planting hole. Apply a balanced liquid plant food every two weeks while in growth and deadhead regulary to encourage more flowers.

Sowing instructions:

From October to late March, sow seeds into pots filled with good-quality seed compost and grow them on in a cold frame. Then, after the worst frosts have passed, the seedlings can either be planted out or potted up for the patio. Alternatively, direct sowings can be made in October or from March to April.
