Malus 'Rudolph'

crab apple 'Rudolph'

Product Image
In its early years, ‘Rudolph’ is initially upright, developing a spreading crown, once established that becomes pendulous in maturity, with a more rounded habit. The flowers, almost 5cm in size, emerge from brownish-purple buds and open to reveal dusky-pink, slightly bleached white blooms, arranged in clusters of 4 to 8. Ovate to elliptic, toothed, glossy leaves appear after the flowers, copper-red at first, turning dark-green in summer, and golden-yellow in autumn, matched by the reddish-yellow, elongated edible fruit.

How to care for Malus Rudolph:

When planting incorporate lots of well-rotted garden compost in the planting hole and stake firmly. Remove dead, diseased and crossing branches while the tree is dormant.
