Producing masses of pale lilac flowers with bold flashes of deep purple, held above a low rosette of green, wrinkled foliage, Streptocarpus 'Betty' is a vigorous, early-flowering cape primrose that delivers continuous colour for many months.
The flowers are broad-petalled and appear in quick succession, making it ideal for brightening up windowsills, shelves, or indoor plant displays. This compact cultivar is well-suited to pots and thrives in bright, indirect light, and well-adapted to modern home conditions.
We’re proud to support our British growers, and having been raised by one of our trusted UK nurseries, this indoor plant has a low carbon footprint, which makes it perfect for an eco-friendly collection or gift.
How to care for Streptocarpus Betty:
Pot on rooted cuttings into general purpose compost and grow on indoors in an indirectly lit spot.
Water regularly during the growing season, allowing the compost to get a little dry in between; during this time they should be fed with a high potash fertiliser. Avoid letting water sit on the leaves.
Repot each spring into a slightly larger, shallow pot filled with fibre-based compost. They can also be used as summer bedding - grow in fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil in partial shade. Overwinter in a shaded greenhouse, or indoors on a south or west-facing windowsill, watering less often.
