Gardener's terrace growhouse - dark chestnut

Our moveable growhouse is inspired by 1930s French grape greenhouses. The steel frame has a distressed dark chestnut powder coat to give it a gracefully timeworn look. All the rivets and fittings are solid brass, and the panes and shelves are made from toughened glass.

Under the base are four sturdy castors so it can be easily moved. Laden with plants and seedlings, you can roll it around the terrace to chase the sun. Perfect for heat-loving tomatoes, chillies and aubergines. In the chilly months you can find it a sheltered spot to overwinter your semi-hardy plants.

If you prefer, you can use it indoors as a plant house for your houseplants. There’s a drainage slot near the base so it isn’t made to be watertight, but you can simply use watertight trays for your pots. The two shelves take up just under half the depth (30cm). Fill those with small pots and you can stand your larger plants in front.

This is a self-assembly item and will arrive packed flat with fixings and full instructions.

Care and maintenance

Always place on flat, level ground. Handle glass panes with care and site well away from areas it may be knocked.

To protect the steel from rust or staining, clean it regularly with mild soap and a sponge or soft cloth to remove bird droppings, sap and dirt. If any scratches or chips occur, immediately seal them with touch-up paint to prevent water from reaching the bare metal (make sure the surface is clean and free from grease and dust before applying).

Any patches that show signs of rusting can be buffed back with steel wool or a wire brush and coated with a suitable sealant.
