Niwaki garden snips

A good reliable pair of snips you can stash in your pocket on your garden travels. The high-carbon SK-85 steel blades are brilliant for flowers, fruit and veg and any green growth (though not for woody pruning). The slender shape makes for precise snipping and those bright red handles will always reveal themselves, so you won’t lose them among the greenery.

Care for your pair

Look after your secateurs by only using them on plant matter - never wire, stone, plastic or other hard materials - and always cutting on the diagonal. Use the base of the blades rather than the tip for heavier cuts and never twist them or apply uneven pressure.

Clean and dry the blades after every use (a Clean Mate and water are great for removing rust, sap and leaf resin), apply a coat of camellia oil and store in a dry place. Sharpen every couple of weeks or as needed.
