Niwaki kenzan - medium
This Japanese kenzan (or flower frog) can support both woody material and softer green stems to hold them in simple, beautiful displays. Made with tough brass pins slotted into a lead base, it’s much more versatile than flower foam. Flowers can be rearranged more readily, it doesn’t need soaking and can be reused time and again.
Place it in a shallow bowl or saucer, add stems until you’re happy (for larger twigs make criss-cross cuts in the bottom so they’re easier to secure) then add an inch or so of water. Top it up daily while flowers are fresh but avoid leaving it submerged in water for long periods as it may discolour.
