blueberry 'Duke'

blueberry - early fruiting or Vaccinium 'Duke'

Product Image
Late spring flowers, that are rarely affected by frosts are followed by an early (June-July) crop of light blue berries that have a firm flesh and a mildly sweet flavour. Each mature bush has a high yield of long-lasting fruits, making blueberry 'Duke' one of the most productive cultivars.

How to care for blueberry Duke:

Prepare the planting site by ensuring acidic, well-drained soil, and improve it with ericaceous compost if needed. Blueberries also do well in large pots filled with ericaceous compost.

Water regularly, especially during dry spells, to keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Prune in winter by removing dead, damaged, or weak branches to encourage healthy growth. After pruning, feed lightly in spring and add a layer of ericaceous mulch to help retain moisture and maintain soil acidity.

Harvest the berries when they are fully ripe and have a deep colour, picking regularly to encourage more fruit.
