The season of interest kicks off in early spring, when the bare branches of this Eastern redbud are studded with small clusters of rich pink flowers. The appearance of these however is quickly followed by the heart-shaped foliage, which often emerges with a faint pink flush. It soon reveals however its stunning green and cream variegations, which offer a bright splash of colour throughout the summer before turning yellow in autumn.
