The evergreen foliage of this distinctive form is heavily marbled green and cream, and like the other photinias, the newly emerging foliage is a bright pinkish red. Therefore the overall effect is very colourful, particularly in spring. Another noteworthy feature is its compact growth, eventually reaching approximately 6' in height. This makes it ideal for larger pots as well as borders and hedging. Please note that the pots in the photos are not sent out with the plants, which will arrive in a nursery pot.
How to care for Photinia serratifolia Pink Crispy ('Oploo5') (PBR):
To encourage a profusion of bright young leaves in late spring or summer shorten the stems of established specimens by up to 15cm (6in), to just above an outward-facing bud in spring. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted garden compost or manure around the base of the plant in early spring.
