Succisella inflexa 'Frosted Pearls'

devil's bit scabious

Product Image
Add a little movement and lightness to summer borders with Succisella inflexa 'Frosted Pearls', a clump-forming perennial that produces branching, self-supporting stems above neat clusters of narrow green leaves.

From midsummer into early autumn, rounded flower heads emerge from pink buds, opening to reveal tiny pearly-white flowers with a delicate lavender-blue tint. Their pincushion-like shape brings an airy quality to mixed borders and naturalistic planting schemes, while providing a useful source of nectar for bees and other pollinating insects.

How to care for Succisella inflexa Frosted Pearls:

Plant in full sun or partial shade in moisture-retentive soil that drains reasonably well. Water regularly during its first growing season and through prolonged dry spells, as it prefers soil that doesn't dry out completely.

The branching stems are self-supporting, so staking isn't usually necessary. Deadhead faded flowers to keep the plant looking tidy, or leave some seed heads in place for wildlife.

Cut back the old stems in late winter or early spring to make room for fresh growth.
